Clean Up Week, Sustainability Fair, and Town Clean Up Day are all Part of Avon’s Annual Spring Cleaning
Each May, Avon hosts a Clean Up Week, encouraging residents to come together and clean up their neighborhoods. This week-long event is an opportunity for community members to take pride in their surroundings and contribute to a cleaner, greener Avon. Volunteers pick up litter, remove debris from public spaces, and ensure that our town remains a beautiful place to live and visit. In return, Avon’s Public Works Department offers free removal of large items like furniture and appliances. Clean up week stretches from May 18 – 24, 2025.
On Wednesday, May 21, we will gather as a community for the Sustainability Fair and Town Clean Up Day. Focused on community engagement and education, the event brings together residents, local businesses, and environmental organizations to share knowledge, resources, and strategies for sustainable living. Attendees can gather swag, learn about new ways to reduce their environmental impact, and help with clean up efforts in Avon’s town core. This year’s event will feature free food and drink (while supplies last) by Ein Prosit.
We believe that being good stewards of our community means taking proactive steps to protect and preserve our environment. The Town of Avon has been at the forefront of implementing green practices and sustainability initiatives that not only benefit our local ecosystem but also inspire other communities to follow suit. A recent standout initiative in Avon is the introduction of a Styrofoam densifier. This innovative machine compresses Styrofoam waste into dense, recyclable blocks, significantly reducing the volume of waste that ends up in landfills. By recycling Styrofoam, Avon is not only minimizing its environmental footprint but also setting an example for other towns to manage waste more effectively.
