Local Covid Policies
As you plan your visit to Avon, please keep in mind how the COVID-19 pandemic might affect your trip. The Town of Avon is dedicated to residents and visitors safety throughout the pandemic. We are keeping a close eye on state and county public health orders and will continue to make health and safety our top priority.
What to Do if you Get Sick
COVID-19’s most common symptoms include shortness of breath, fever, dry cough, headache, body aches, ear ache, sore throat, loss of the sense of smell or taste, or sometimes abdominal pain, such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. If you believe you may have contracted COVID-19, the first thing to do is limit your exposure to others and prevent the virus from spreading. Even if you are a visitor, we ask that you quarantine in your current lodgings for at least 10 days and until you’ve been fever-free for 24 hours. The next step is to get tested. You can find updated testing site information here.
Eagle County Public Health determines a risk level based on the number of new cases, positivity percentages and hospitalizations each week. These levels change quickly, but you can find more detailed information in English and Spanish at Eagle County’s COVID-19 landing page. The page is updated every day at 4 p.m.
While you’re enjoying your stay in Avon guests are expected to follow the Five Commitments of Containment.
Five Commitments of Containment
- I will maintain 6 feet of physical distance.
- I will cover my face in public.
- I will wash my hands often.
- I will stay home when I am sick.
- I will get tested immediately if I have symptoms.
The Town of Avon closely follows the County’s public health orders, but it may implement its own restrictions as it sees fit. Any changes to local restrictions can be found on the Engage Avon website. If you travel to other areas in the County, make sure to check local websites for any different requirements as well.
